The 62nd Annual National Merit Scholarship Program has announced that three seniors from Hunterdon Central have been named as National Merit Semi-finalists for 2016: Srinivasa Cheekati, Raveena Ravilla and Mackinnon Poulson.
These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring.
To become Semifinalists, the students competed with more than 1.5 million high school juniors across the country by taking the PSAT/National MeritQualifying Test. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of current US high school seniors.
About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
Merit Scholarship winners for 2016 are scheduled to be announced in the spring of 2016.
Congratulations to these outstanding Hunterdon Central students!
