The sixth annual Outdoor Art Show and Sale will be held June 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. under the grove of trees at the Hunterdon County Library on Route 12.
Last June, then 14-year-old Alex Tryon of Raritan Township won the “People’s Choice” award. Competition was stiff with 63 registered artists, ages 12 to 95, including many professionals, voting for their favorite overall artist as well as over 400 attendees, many of whom also cast votes.
While Alex was too young to enter the art show initially, he attended in support of his sister Annalee who was entered at the time. Alex first entered in 2015 and won an honorable mention ribbon in the student category. Both he and his family enjoyed the experience especially seeing the work of so many talented local artists. Although the show is judged the atmosphere is both casual and supportive, perfect for artists new to the Art Show world.
Alex began painting with oils, his preferred medium, at 9 years old while taking art lessons from Helen Meyers of Flemington, and continued with Mrs. Meyers for 5 years. Alex is presently in the Gifted and Talented art program at Hunterdon Central Regional High School under Vincent D’Amico.
Alex also plays the piano, composes music, and was a past winner of the Hunterdon County Young Composers Contest.
Come out and support Alex along with all the other artists this year and enjoy live music with Jugtown Mountain String Band, and refreshments from the Kona Ice truck. You just may find a treasure or two to take home.
