Adam A. Wurtz, age 82, of Ashburn, VA passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015.
The son of the late George and Magdalena Wurtz, he was born on July 4, 1932 at home in Piscataway, NJ and was a longtime resident of NJ, growing up in New Market Piscataway Twp attending St. John’s school in Dunellen and St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick.
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in business from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD in 1955, he returned to live in Dunellen where he met his wife Janet Flanagan-Wurtz. They relocated to Clinton Twp. and later retired to Bluffton, SC, recently relocating to Ashburn, VA to live near family.
After college, he served in the Army and was stationed in Japan. He was an auditor/accountant for Philip Morris for 27 years, then went to work for Lockheed Electronics in North Plainfield, NJ and later Valcor in Springfield, NJ. He was last employed by The Body Shop at their corporate office in Morris Plains, NJ.
Adam loved going to auctions and enjoyed metal detecting. He also loved spending time with his family. He was a past member of Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, NJ, St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton, SC and St. John Neumann in Reston, VA.
He is survived by his son, Joseph M. Wurtz and his wife Dannie Myers-Wurtz of San Diego, CA; his daughter Catherine A. Wurtz-Brodfuehrer and her husband Scott of Arlington, VA; grandchildren Sierra Wurtz and Liam Wurtz, of San Diego, CA; his sister Magdalena Daus and her husband John of Manville, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 15, 2015 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
