Anita J. Hoitsma
ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, NJ – Anita Hoitsma, 91, Pittstown (Alexandria Township), NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 2, 2017.
Born May 15, 1926 in Wayne, NJ, Anita graduated from Pompton Lakes High School in 1944. She married John Hoitsma, Jr. in 1948. They owned and operated Bridal Veil Bakery first in Paterson, NJ, then Wyckoff, NJ, as well as Bridle Vale Farm in Franklin Lakes, NJ, and then Greendell, NJ, before retiring and moving to Pittstown, NJ.
Daughter of the late V. Joseph and Ernestine (Hausamann) Grassey, Anita is survived by her sister Nancy Hutcheson, her cousin Sara Hausamann, nephews Richard Grassey, Jr., Stuart Hutcheson, Douglas Grassey, and John Hutcheson and his wife Denise, nieces Ann Scussell and her husband Brad, Brenda Grassey and her husband Rick Wollams, and Eleanor Hutcheson, great nephews Alexander Grassey, Richard Grassey, and Patrick Hutcheson, and great nieces Claire Grassey, Sara Hutcheson, and Rebecca Beets. Anita was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, John Hoitsma, Jr. as well as her brother Richard Grassey.
A celebration of Anita’s life will be held on July 8, 2017 from 1-4 PM at Scussell Farm in Pittstown, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
