Anna Alvina Binder passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Anna is survived by her husband of 72 years, Wilbert, as well as daughters Diane Coffman, Nancy Bodyl and husband Gregory, and grandchildren Michelle and Gene Bodyl.
Alvina was born in a suburb of Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 18, 1925. Upon coming to the United States she lived in various New Jersey towns including Springfield, Murray Hill, Pittstown, and most recently Milford.
Alvina graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School, Springfield, NJ, in 1943. She held various administrative assistant positions until becoming a full-time homemaker.
Alvina had many interests, most notably sewing and crafting, music, gardening, and baking. Her love of animals, and most specifically German Shepherds, led her to lend her support to various humane organizations.
Alvina was an active member of the Hunterdon Hills Lions Club for more than 30 years. She frequently contributed her artistic talents to the club’s fundraising events. Alvina was also a member and volunteer for the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Pittstown.
Calling hours at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home (26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ) will be on Thursday, August 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be conducted by Pastor Thomas Jones at 7:00 p.m. Friday’s interment will be private.
