Arlene V. Pursell
MILFORD, NJ – Arlene V. Pursell, 87, of Milford, NJ, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township, NJ.
Born December 15, 1928 in Easton, PA, Arlene grew up in Upper Black Eddy, PA, before moving to Milford, NJ. She worked as a private duty nurse in private residences. Prior to that, she worked at the old jail in Flemington. She also obtained her real estate license and was a realtor for a short while. Arlene loved to travel. She was a member of the Milford Presbyterian Church and was one of the first women members of the Milford Rescue Squad. Actively involved in her community, she was the President of the Senior Citizen’s Club in Milford, and sang in the church choir.
Daughter of the late Robert C. Allen and Anna (Pursell) Allen, Arlene is survived by her two sons Donald Earl Pursell of Virginia Beach and Terry Earl Pursell of Andover, NJ, her daughter Dorothy Lilley of Manassas, VA, her brothers Donald, Melvin, and Roland, and half-sister Ruthann Wolf, as well as grandchildren Timothy, Denise, Laura, Jennifer, Terry Lynn, Charles “Chuck”, and 6 great-grandchildren. Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl S. Pursell, whom she was married to for 53 years, as well as her brother Robert.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
