ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, NJ – Arthur Carl Pfefferle, 84, of Alexandria Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ. He was born to Adolf and Anna (Schaadt) Pfefferle on September 20, 1931.

Arthur lived all his life in Alexandria Township, NJ. He attended a one room school house in Little York and went on to graduate from Frenchtown High School in 1948. Arthur had a passion for music and played the saxophone and clarinet. From his love of music, he became a member of the band RhythmAires in the 50’s and 60’s. Arthur was a poultry farmer and ran a family business selling eggs in the city. While selling eggs he met his wife Carol and brought her back to the farm where they lived and raised their family. In 1973, he left the farming life and went to work for American Cyanamid, a waste water operator, until 1997. While his children were attending Alexandria Township, Arthur became active in the school board. He served a total of 23 years on the board. Arthur was recognized by the school for his many years of service on the school board. The library at Lester D. Wilson school and the new addition at Alexandria Middle School were dedicated in his name.

During retirement, Arthur started playing saxophone again and enjoyed participating with the group Frustrated Maestros and played at various locations while motor homing across the country. When he was not traveling, he enjoyed singing in the choir at Alexandria First Presbyterian Church and occasionally performing with his saxophone during services.

Arthur is survived by his beloved wife Carol, his four children Arthur Pfefferle, Jr. and wife Kate Greengrove of Raleigh, NC, Daniel Pfefferle and wife Linda Pfefferle of Easton, PA, Kelly Snyder and husband Grover Snyder of Titusville, FL, Melissa Pfefferle and wife Jennifer Pfefferle of Concord, NH, his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers Rudolph Pfefferle and Adolph Pfefferle, Sr.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11 AM at the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church, 141 Little York-Mt. Pleasant Road, Alexandria Township, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
