Arthur Hanna, Jr.
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – Arthur Hanna, Jr., 83, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born June 9, 1932 in Milford, NJ, Arthur was a lifelong resident of Milford and Holland Township. He graduated from Frenchtown High School. Arthur was a farmer for many years. He was the owner of Arthur Hanna Auctioneering for 29 years before retiring in 1996. Arthur was a past member of the Riegel Ridge Choral Group. He played lead parts (vocal and dialogue) in the plays Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Carousel, and the Sound of Music at the Oak Ridge Theater, now Riegel Ridge Community Center. Arthur was a past member of the First United Church of Christ where he was deacon, church historian, sang in the church choir, soloist, hand bell choir, financial secretary, and held other various roles. He was a past member of the Holland Township Historical Society and the Board of the Milford Union Cemetery. Arthur was a current member of the Clinton United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was in the hand bell choir.
Son of the late Arthur Hanna, Sr. and Ruth (Kinney) Hanna, Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dwanne B. Hanna, his two sons Donald Hanna of Santee, SC and Dale Hanna of Milford, NJ, his two daughters Donna Dalrymple of Bensalem, PA and Diane Kappus of Alexandria Township, NJ, his brother Lester Hanna of Upper Black Eddy, PA, his six grandchildren Chase, Chad, Lacey, Alyssa, Billy, and Rachel, and his great-grandchild Rusty. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow at the Milford Union Cemetery in Milford, NJ. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
