at 6:30 PM, Patrolman Matthew Thompson was dispatched to the Open Cupboard Food Pantry, 37 Old Hwy 22 for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Patrolman Thompson interviewed witnesses, who stated that a man, later determined to be 43 years of age from Newark, NJ and his 38 year old girlfriend were at the Food Pantry and had a verbal altercation. When the two returned to their vehicle, the man was observed choking the woman. Patrolman Thompson arrested the man and he was charged with Simple Assault. He was released on his own recognizance.
