You are invited to attend NEUE, an exhibition of new works by Malcolm Bray at the artist’s studio in Lambertville NJ.
“I have assembled these 20 canvases, works on paper and a splendid mirror (from Doylestown) to the best advantage in a somewhat crowded studio. Nonetheless, this recent work includes an experiment with spray paint, an act of ‘painting’ which seemed simple to execute and somewhat liberating, yet potentially destructive and graffiti like.
The composition in these paintings is still my main concern however and whether the painting spills out beyond the very fabric or format it is presented on.
The like the German word NEUE for its semi industrial and strong neutral ring. I’ve adopted titles in German before, also French and Spanish. The painting above is titled She holds the intellectual high ground – which is hard to decipher I know – so, we’re open to debate!”
