Betty Ann Chiesa, age 67 years, of East Amwell Township NJ, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township NJ, surrounded by her family.
Born February 23, 1949, in Somerville NJ, Betty was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Conover) Miller. She lived in the Hunterdon County most of her life, living in Ringoes for the past 30 years. She worked for many years as a Jewelry Manager for Laneco in Clinton NJ before it closed. Betty was a school bus driver for the Hunterdon Central Regional School System for more than 20 years.
Betty was a very social person; she loved to bowl and was a member of various leagues at the West Hunterdon Lanes in Frenchtown for many years. Betty loved the sunshine and was most happy at the beach, spending time in her backyard pool, or taking many trips to Aruba with her husband, Gene. Some of her favorite things included playing penny slots in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Bethlehem PA, as well as visiting Lancaster PA, and listening to country music, especially her favorites, Conway Twitty and Gene Watson.
Betty was best known by her grandchildren as the “cool nanny,” and loved spending time with them more than anything.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Harold “Sonny” Miller, Stanley Miller, and William Miller, as well as her sister, Shirley Smith. She is survived by her husband of nearly 27 years, Gene Chiesa, her daughter, JoAnn Apgar of Milford NJ, her son, Joseph Tigar, Jr., of Hendersonville TN, her step-daughter, Tammy Chesnavich of Monroe Township NJ, her brother, Lester “Gig” Miller of Kempton PA, her sister, Elsie McCusker of Ringoes NJ, and her three grandchildren, Brittany, Lauren, and Bradley Apgar.
A Memorial Service officiated by the Rev. James DeVries will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Cremation was private. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
