On Monday, February 27, at approximately 2:55 pm, officers responded to the rear
of a Sheridan Road residence for a report of a small brush fire in a compost pile of
leaves and dead trees. Upon arrival, officers learned that the homeowner used a
fire extinguisher and a garden hose to contain the fire until the fire company
arrived. The Lebanon Fire Company and Annandale Hose Company soon arrived
and extinguished the fire. The fire is suspected to have started when the wind
blew ash from a fireplace into the compost pile. There were no suspicious
circumstances and no injuries.
