BURGLARS WHO WERE CUTTING POWER TO HOUSES IN TBURY AND CL TWP FINALLY CAUGHT

On 5/23/2017 officers responded to a residence on Beavers Road for a report of subjects that had cut the power to the home and were trespassing on the property.  On patrols arrival it was found that someone had removed the electric meter from the home.  Officers established a perimeter around the home and with the assistance of a K-9 Officer from Readington the area around the home was searched but no one was located.

While conducting the investigation on Beavers Road a call came from a resident on Old Mine Road reporting they had lost power and unknown subjects had forced open a door to the home.  The resident yelled out the subjects and they fled from the home.  Clinton Twp. Police were requested to assist and while enroute to the home a vehicle was observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed.  Clinton Twp. police took chase and the vehicle crashed on Rt. 22 in the area of Cokesbury Road.  Two subjects, Lesly Valentin (age 31) of Asbury Park, NJ and Jarrett Bruce (age 22) of Hackensack were apprehended and charged with Criminal Attempt, Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Theft.  Valentin is lodged in State Prison and Bruce is lodged in Somerset County Jail.  It was found that the electric meter for the home was also removed.

On 5/27/2017 a burglary, in which the power meter was removed and a door was forced open, was discovered on Long View Road.  Through the investigation it was determined the burglary occurred on 5/23/2017.  Evidence gathered during the investigation on 5/23/2017 links Valentin and Bruce to this burglary and additional complaints were filed against both.
