CAR TAKES OUT ELECTRIC POLES 22 SHUT DOWN AT PETTICOAT LANE

On Wednesday, August 9, at approximately 6:25 am, a vehicle traveling on Petticoat Lane was approaching Route 22 when the driver advised that the vehicle’s brakes failed.  The vehicle struck a utility pole and either struck a second vehicle or caused the utility pole to crash into the second vehicle.

Although there does not appear to be any injuries at this time, the crash caused multiple wires to be down across both lanes of Route 22.  As a result, BOTH LANES OF ROUTE 22 NEAR PETTICOAT LANE IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP ARE SHUT DOWN AND WILL REMAIN SHUT DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.    Officers were assisted by New Jersey State Police and NJDOT.  The power company, Century Link, the water company, and the gas company have all responded and are attempting to resolve the situation.
