Carmen C. Polanco, age 97, of Whitehouse Station, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ.

She was born on July 1, 1919 in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico.  She resided in Whitehouse Station, NJ for the past 20 years, moving from Toms River, NJ.

Carmen was the daughter of the late Epifanio Cruz and Casilda Cruz Martinez.

She made leather purses in a factory in Puerto Rico and Newark, NJ and later worked as a seamstress in Newark, NJ for many years.

Carmen enjoyed doing needlework and crocheting.

Survivors include 1 son; Louis Polanco of Belvidere, NJ.  3 grandchildren; Anastasia ‘Tasha’ Steel and her husband Brent of St. Lauderdale, FL,  Louis Polanco II of San Clemente, CA and Frankie Polanco and his wife Stephanie of Leesburg, VA.  6 grandchildren; Brighton Steel, Louis Polanco III, Gabriella Polanco, Vincent Polanco, Frankie Polanco and baby–on-the-way, Amari Steel.  Survivors also include 1 sister; Mercedes Garcia of CA.

Predeceased by 2 sisters; Rosa and Altagracia.

Calling hour will be Friday, February 24, 2017 from 10am to 11am.  Funeral Service at 11am.  All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment at Union Cemetery in Lebanon, NJ.
