HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – Carrie Edna (Scott) Shaffer, 89, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on April 11, 2015 at her home.

Born June 22, 1925 in Raubsville, PA, Carrie was a lifelong resident of Holland Township. Carrie went to school at the old Church Road schoolhouse. She was a homemaker and worked at Barker’s Department Store in Clinton, NJ and then Plessy Corp. in Frenchtown, NJ. She was a caregiver to many family members and friends. Carrie enjoyed gardening and loved to travel with her husband in their camper throughout the United States and Canada. She also loved spending time visiting her cousin Jill Beebe at her vacation homes in Maine and Long Beach Island, NJ. Carrie loved her cats Shadow, Max and Tigger. She was proud to take care of the chickens by letting them out of the coup each morning and were often found in her kitchen visiting.

Carrie was a very active member of the Holland Presbyterian Church where she along with her husband held many positions during her more than 75 years of membership.

Daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Ganter) Scott, Carrie was the last member of the Scott family of eleven children. She is survived by her daughter Diane E. Cashman and her husband Thomas of Wilkes Barre, PA, her son John R. Shaffer, her three grandchildren Eric Cashman and his wife Diana, Jill Woodring and her husband William, Jr., and Keith Shaffer and his wife Nicole, her five great-grandchildren Cody, William III, Tyler, Cheyenne, and Carrie-Ann. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John A. Shaffer in 1997, her two brothers and eight sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow at the Riegelsville Union Cemetery in Riegelsville, PA. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
