On Friday, July 24, at approximately 6:10 am, Patrolman Andrew McCluskey was dispatched to Petticoat Lane for a report of a missing female who ran off into the woods. Upon arrival, Ptl. McCluskey met with Justin Brenly, age 36, of Clinton Township, and two (2) State Department of Corrections Officers. The officers advised that they observed Mr. Brenly flagging them down as he stood on the side of the road. When the officers made contact with Mr. Brenly, he claimed that his girlfriend, who was intoxicated and in danger, had just run off into the woods on the north side of Petticoat Lane. Ptl. McCluskey contacted the police department where the girlfriend resides and had officers check her residence. The officers advised that the girlfriend was at home, in good health, and had not been with Mr. Brenly recently. As a result of this information and other probable cause, Ptl. McCluskey arrested Mr. Brenly and charged him with Fictitious Reports to Law Enforcement. He was lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $2,500 bail.
