“Click-It-Or-Ticket” detail leads to syringe

On Monday, May 18, at approximately 6:00 pm, Sergeant Thomas DeRosa was working a “Click-It-Or-Ticket” detail when he stopped a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Thomas Wendland, age 25, of Budd Lake, because Mr. Wendland was not wearing his seatbelt. During the stop, Sgt. DeRosa observed that Mr. Wendland was unusually nervous and soon discovered him to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe. As a result, Sgt.
