CLINTON TOWNSHIP MAN ARRESTED WITH EXPLOSIVE DEVICES

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Clinton Township Police Lieutenant Doug Higgins announced the arrest of Jeffrey Werch. According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On Tuesday, October 4, at approximately 5:45 pm, Clinton Township police officers and Detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Jeffrey Werch, age 34, of Clinton Township, following an investigation. During the search of the residence, officers located two (2) pipe bombs and hollow-point bullets. A Trooper from the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad responded along with a bomb-detection K-9 to assist. Mr. Werch was arrested and charged with Possession of a Destructive Device, Possession of an Explosive Device for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of Hollow-Point Bullets, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon. He was transported to the Somerset County Jail in default of $50,000 bail.” The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
