Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, and Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski announced the arrest of one individual after a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Investigations Division.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On October 6, 2016, Brian Y. Ambroise, age 32, of Union, NJ, was arrested and charged with Official Misconduct and Sexual Assault, both 2nd degree crimes. The joint investigation revealed that Mr. Ambroise was employed as a Correction Officer when he engaged in a sexual relationship with an inmate at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton Township. Mr. Ambroise is currently suspended from his position with the New Jersey Department of Corrections.”
Bail for Mr. Ambroise was set at $50,000 by the Honorable Angela F. Borkowski, J.S.C. The defendant was lodged at the Somerset County Jail.
Prosecutor Kearns stated, “The collaboration between the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Corrections Special Investigations Division was vital to the success of the investigation. We will continue to work together to prosecute those who violate the public trust.”
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
