Summer is just around the corner and school will be out! The Hunterdon County Department of Parks & Recreation has several options for your children to have some creative fun this year. We have camps for music, art, crafts and acting!
Recreation Coordinator, Liz Braidwood Fulmer will be leading Craft Camp from June 26 – 30. An eclectic mix of artistic media such as clay, felt, gourds, tile, wood, rocks, vines, and recycled items keep interest and enthusiasm high. We have new projects every year! Sculpt with clay, create with beads, weave a basket or two, and work on visual balance designing with things from nature.
Our Performance Camp July 24-28 (grades 2-5) or July 31 – August 4 (grades 6-9) $245pp.will be held at our beautiful Deer Path Park Cedars Pavilion from 9:00am-4:30pm. Taught by Flying Ship Productions, they combine time-tested themes with original music and dialogue and inventive staging and choreography. Children will have the opportunity to stage an original musical. The show contains new and original songs, costumes, props, and dances. The week culminates in a performance and picnic at Deer Path Park on Friday evening at 6:15. In addition to working on the musical, campers also create the set, make costumes and crafts, and participate in theatre and water games.
The Creative Theater campers will be acting on the stage in the Main Lodge at Echo Hill. Surrounded by woods and a lovely pond the ambience is the perfect atmosphere for creativity. From August 21 to 25, 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM (Friday until 4:00 PM), ages 8-12, $150pp. This production will be guided by the ideas of the campers; characters, plot, and setting are all based on their ideas. The disciplines of the actor are first introduced through theatre games. Movement, voice, theatre terms, and listening are practiced on day one and built on as the play is developed. The week culminates in a performance on Friday at 3:00 PM. Instructor Joe Nowosielski.
