Daniel Harold Hoffman
Daniel Harold Hoffman, age 84, of Tewksbury Twp., NJ passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at home.
He was born on December 30, 1933 in Everittstown, NJ. He was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County and lived in Tewksbury Twp., NJ for the past 62 years.
He was the son of the late James Cecil and Agnes Delhagen Hoffman
Daniel was the husband of Eleanor Ann Hoffman, celebrating 61 years of marriage.
Daniel was a US Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was with the First Marine division and 82nd Congress where he was wounded in action in Western Korean in November of 1952. He was the recipient of a Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and Purple Heart Medal. Daniel was very proud of his service to our country and was featured several newspapers about his military service.
Upon his retirement from the US Marine Corps, Daniel worked as a stationary engineer at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ.
Daniel was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, National Rifleman, the Disabled American Veterans and the Cokesbury United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart where he marched in numerous parades with the organization.
Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a past Scout Master for Troop 200 where he took the scouts on numerous camping trips including to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, NM and also to Delaware. He also enjoyed marching in many parades with the Scouts over the years.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two sons; Kevin Kyle Hoffman I and his wife Annette of Tewksbury Twp., NJ and Daniel Arthur Hoffman and his wife Janet of Bath, PA. Two grandchildren; Kevin Kyle Hoffman II and Danielle Ann Hoffman, both of Tewksbury Twp., NJ. One sister; Agnes Gertrude Brown of Hampton,. NJ. One sister-in-law; Ruth Hoffman of Hagerstown, MD.
Predeceased by seven siblings; Helen Hoffman, Floyd Hoffman, Dorothy Hoffman, Kenny Hoffman, Jimmy Hoffman, Lizzy Hoffman and Bob Hoffman.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 1-4pm. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury, NJ.
