Delaware Twp.: P. Rand Matlack, 64 entered into eternal peace on Sunday January 3 at his home.
Born and raised in Ewing Twp., Rand had lived in Delaware Twp. for the past forty years. He received an Associate’s degree from Mercer County Community College and then served a masonry apprenticeship. A self-employed mason, Rand owned Ace Construction and will be forever remembered for his masonry skills.
He spent endless hours coaching his son’s little league teams, attending father-daughter dances and served as an Indian Guide Leader. One of his famous quotes was “I love babies and dogs”. His love of children led him to a role he embraced as Foster Parent. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and golfing.
Son of the late Philip and Joan Matlack Schonwald, he is survived by his former wife and forever friend Becky Matlack, his children Dennis and his wife Meghan, Erika, Jonathan and Michael, and his four grandchildren, Jonathan Jr., Jack, Ryan and Caitlyn.
A memorial service will be held Friday January 8 at 11:00 am at the Stockton Wesleyan Church, 12 N. Main St. Stockton, NJ 08559. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital 200 Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
