Domestic Violence, Resisting Arrest

On Monday, May 25, at approximately 7:40 pm, Patrolman Brian Dickson responded to a township residence for a report of a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. Upon arrival, Ptl. Dickson observed a fifty-four (54) year-old man standing in the driveway of the residence. The man had blood on his shirt and a swollen eye. Upon interviewing the man’s fifty-three (53) year-old wife, she advised that after consuming alcoholic beverages, she and her husband got into an altercation during which time she struck him in the face and head with her fists and pulled on his shirt. This account was corroborated by the husband and a witness. As a result, Ptl. Dickson advised the woman that she was under arrest for domestic violence-related Simple Assault. However, the woman would not comply with orders to place her hands behind her back and ultimately had to be restrained by Ptl. Dickson and Patrolman Andrew McCluskey until she was secured in handcuffs. The woman was charged with Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest. She was then lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $2,500 bail. The victim decided not to apply for a Temporary Restraining Order.
