Donald F. Rumpf Sr., age 84, of High Bridge, NJ passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at home.
He was born on October 20, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ and was a lifelong resident of High Bridge, NJ.
He was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Cregar Rumpf.
Donald was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
Donald was the husband of Marcia A. Smith Rumpf, celebrating 63 years of marriage.
He was a Licensed Land Surveyor, working for Robert W. Lee Associates until his retirement in the late 1990’s.
Donald was a past member of the American Legion and High Bridge Reformed Church.
He was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed coaching Little League and basketball when his sons were growing up. He loved fishing and was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He also enjoyed bowling years ago and also dancing with his wife, especially square dancing and doing the jitterbug. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include 3 sons; Donald ‘Butch’ F. Rumpf Jr. and Barbara Kotulich of Washington, NJ, Larry J. Rumpf and Debbie of Washington, NJ and Randy G. Rumpf and Nancy of Lebanon Twp., NJ. 7 grandchildren; Nicholas Rumpf of Los Angeles, CA, Jeremy Rumpf and his wife Stefanie of Ewing, NJ, Amy DaSilva and her husband Brian of Palmer, PA, Kiley Rumpf of Aberdeen, NJ, Renee Rumpf of Ewing, NJ, Matthew Rumpf of Washington, NJ and Cory Rumpf and his wife Carissa of Washington, NJ. 2 great-grandchildren; Hunter Rumpf and Skyelar Rumpf.
Calling hours will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10am to 12noon with funeral services following at 12noon. All at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
