Doris Apgar Conover
Doris Apgar Conover, age 90, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 12, 2016 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born May 30, 1926, she resided in Bath, PA where she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, William H. Conover, who died in 2013. Before retiring in Bath she lived and raised her family in High Bridge, NJ. She was the daughter of Leslie and Minnie Philhower Apgar of Cokesbury, NJ.
Doris worked at Taylor Wharton Iron and Steel in High Bridge during World War II as a mail clerk, and raised her family while working at Quality Packaging in Kingwood, NJ for 20 years. She was a former member of the High Bridge Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved camping, game shows, playing cards on family game night and just being with family, extended family and friends.
She is survived by her 3 children; Nancy and her husband Robert VanNatta of High Bridge, NJ, William B. Conover of Bath, PA and Russell Conover and his wife Connie of Cumming, GA. 4 grandchildren; Craig VanNatta of High Bridge, NJ, Kelly VanNatta and her fiancé Karl Wuttke of Annandale, NJ, Ryan Conover of Sugar Hill, GA and Amanda Conover Myers and her husband Cody of Dawsonville, GA. 3 great-grandchildren; Adrian, Bradley and Addison. 1 sister; Shirley Colontone of Branchburg, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by a brother Harold Apgar and a sister Alma McDowell.
Graveside Service will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11am at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury, NJ. Arrangements by Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge, NJ.
