On Friday, April 29, at approximately 11:55 pm, an officer stopped a 2007 Honda Civic operated by Ryan Goehring, age 23, of Hampton, on Route 31 North near Echo Lane for failing to maintain lane. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mr. Goehring’s breath, observed an opened can of beer in the vehicle’s center console, and soon determined that Mr. Goehring was intoxicated. Mr. Goehring was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he refused to provide samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the content of alcohol in his blood. As a result, Mr. Goehring was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle By Driver, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Maintenance of Lamps. He was released to the custody of a responsible adult and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
