On Tuesday, October 25, at approximately 6:20 pm, an officer was dispatched to Route 22 West for a report of a motor vehicle crash possibly involving an intoxicated driver. Upon arrival, the officer learned that a Readington Township police officer came upon a 1989 Ford F150 in the parking lot of a business. Giovanni Castro-Navarro, age 40, of Washington, was in the driver’s seat and appeared intoxicated while the vehicle was running and in “drive.” The Clinton Township officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage upon Mr. Castro-Navarro’s breath and soon determined that he was intoxicated. Mr. Castro-Navarro was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the content of alcohol in his blood. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash, and Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Crash. He was released to the custody of a responsible adult and his vehicle was towed and impounded. It was determined that Mr. Castro-Navarro crashed on Route 22 West in Readington Township just prior to the Clinton Township line
