@ approximately 11:35 PM – Police arrested John L. Jackson, age 56 of Flemington and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol following a motor vehicle stop on Church Street Extension. Police were initially called to that location by an onduty Readington Township police officer who had stopped Jackson’s vehicle there. The Readington officer was stopped at the red traffic signal at the intersection of Case Boulevard and Rt. 202 when he observed Jackson’s vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway north of that intersection.

At the intersection, Jackson’s vehicle crossed over to the southbound side of the highway and continued south in the southbound lanes. The Readington officer followed Jackson’s vehicle and observed it fail to maintain lane control before ultimately stopping it on Church Street Extension, just off Rt. 202. A Raritan Township officer responded and took over the investigation. Jackson exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was unable to successfully complete field sobriety tests. He was ultimately placed under arrest. Jackson was issued additional summonses for reckless driving, careless driving, driving while suspended and refusal to submit to chemical breath testing. The vehicle was towed and Jackson was released to a friend after processing. Investigation and arrest by P.O. Brett Szatkowski.
