On Friday, May 6, at approximately 8:40 pm, officers responded to a township residence for a 9-1-1 hang-up call. Upon arrival, officers observed a twenty-one (21) year-old man who lives at the residence standing outside. He had a fresh cut on his lip and an apparent injury to his forehead. The man advised that his fifty-five (55) year-old father had been drinking and, during an argument, punched him (the 21 year old) in the face. Upon checking the residence, officers found the highly intoxicated father hiding behind the furnace in the basement. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Simple Assault and Obstruction of Justice. He was later transported to the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $2,500. The victim decided not to apply for a Temporary Restraining Order.
