DRUNK WOMAN CRASHES INTO TRUCK WHILE MAN WAS PUTTING GAS IN IT

@ approximately 7:05 PM – Police arrested Lauren R. Benson, age 22 of Somerset, NJ and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol following a motor vehicle crash on Church Street Extension. Police were called to the scene for a reported motor vehicle crash there. Upon arrival police learned that Benson was driving west on Church Street Extension, in a 2010 Acura TL, when her vehicle struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado which was disabled partially in the right travel lane. The Silverado was out of gas and the operator was filling the tank with a gas can when the crash occurred. Neither party reported injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Benson was issued additional motor vehicle summonses for careless driving and reckless driving. She was released to a friend after processing. Investigation and arrest by P.O. William Cialone.
