@ approximately 9:21 PM – Police arrested James T. Flynn, age 38 of Raritan Township and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol following a motor vehicle crash on Rt. 31. Police were dispatched to Rt. 31, in the area of Stop and Shop for a reported minor motor vehicle crash with no injuries. Upon arrival, the driver of one of the vehicles involved and her husband, who was a passenger, advised that they were rear ended by another vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle got out of the car and handed them an envelope containing documents for the vehicle he was driving and fled the scene in that vehicle. The couple provided a vehicle description as well as a physical and clothing description of the driver, who they reported was visibly intoxicated. Flynn was located at his residence and identified as the driver. He was issued additional summonses for careless driving, reckless driving, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, failure to report a motor vehicle crash, driving while suspended, failure to surrender driver’s license and refusal to submit to chemical breath testing. The vehicle was released to the registered owner and Flynn was released to a friend after processing. Investigation and arrest by P.O. William Cialone.
