Edmund ‘Sonny’ Arthur Muckelmann Jr., age 88, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Twp., NJ.
He was born on February 13, 1929 in Langhorn, PA. He spent his childhood in Hoboken, NJ until he moved to the family dairy farm, ‘Twin Brook Farm’, in Clinton Twp., NJ when he was 12 years old. Sonny spent the rest of his life working that farm and cultivated future generations in his family to sustain it.
He was the son of the late Edmund Arthur Muckelmann Sr. and Elvira Louise Huehnerbein Muckelmann.
Sonny was the husband of Helen Prostak Muckelmann. The couple would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on June 27th.
Memberships include the NJ Farm Bureau, and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Sonny was also inducted into the Holcombe Jimison Farmstead Museum in Lambertville, NJ in 2012.
Sonny enjoyed decorating the farm for Christmas. His spectacular Christmas display was his gift to the neighborhood, and enjoyed by all. He was also an avid clock collector and restorer. He loved flowers, gardening, skiing and traveling with his wife. He and Helen especially enjoyed traveling to New England where Bar Harbor was one of their favorite spots.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two half-brothers; Ronald Muckelmann and his wife Corithia of Montgomery, PA and Daniel Hurley of FL. He is also survived by his two nephews who work the farm with him; Philip Prostak and Bob Prostak. Additional nieces and nephews that survive him include; Dominikja Prostak, Thomas Prostak, Barbara Prostak, Jonathan Prostak, Mary Lomerson and her husband Ron, Ed Prostak and his wife Debbie, and Don Prostak and his wife Brenda. Sonny is also survived by many loving grand nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents; Freda and Henry Muckelmann.
