Edward Heinzelman, Jr., age 95 years, of Tewksbury, NJ, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Care One of Somerset Valley, Bridgewater Township, NJ.
Born in Union City, NJ, September 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Edward and Betty Barker Heinzelman.
Edward was a United States Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 411th Infantry Regiment of the 103rd Infantry Division as Technician Fifth Grade. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy in France on 29 November 1944.
He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Columbia University, and his Masters in Metallurgical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute.
Edward started his career at Oakite Products, Inc., Berkeley Heights, NJ as Assistant Technical Director working in the Research Department. He retired as Vice-President of Product Development and holds six United States patents in his field. These products are still sold by Oakite today.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Violet, and two sons, Mark and Glen. Surviving are his daughter, Alice Heinzelman, of Tewksbury Township, NJ; a son, Bert Heinzelman, of Nevada City, CA; and seven grandchildren: Taylor, Bert, Max, Mark, Kevin, Douglas, and Christopher.
Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
