Erna G. Harvst
Erna G. Harvst passed away at home on 11/26/2016 at the age of 85.
Born and raised in Germany Erna met Alfred, who was to be the love of her life. After World War 2 Alfred moved to the USA, and shortly thereafter sent for Erna. They were married in NYC in 1950.
During Erna’s lifetime she worked as a maid for the German Ambassador to the USA, a waitress in the family restaurant, and after a short break for raising her children, she worked 29 years for American Can Co. in Washington, NJ, initially as a machine operator and later in quality control.
Erna was a devoted, loving wife and soulmate to her late husband Alfred, and a wonderful, compassionate and dedicated mother to her children.
Those who knew her appreciated her genuine smile and admired her blend of honesty and charming innocence. She could be counted on as being a loyal and steadfast friend.
Erna is survived by her daughter Shirley, living at home, a son Thomas and son in law Charles Thomas of Glen Gardner, a twin sister Inge Garrison and a niece Sandra Garrison both of Allentown, PA.
In accordance with Erna’s wishes she will be cremated; her ashes along with those of her beloved Alfred will be buried together, as they were in life, inseparable, throughout eternity.
A graveside service will be held on December 3, 2016 at 2:00PM in the Spruce Run Cemetery, Glen Gardner, NJ under the direction of the Coughlin Funeral Home 15 Academy Street Califon, NJ 07830
Memorial Donations may be made to Hunterdon Hospice 2100 Wescott Drive Flemington 08822.
