Ernest W. Kuster, age 84 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, March 7, 2016 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, October 6, 1931, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bertha Betchart Kuster. He had previously resided in Neshanic, NJ until his parents bought a farm in Raritan Township, NJ in 1939.
Mr. Kuster graduated from Flemington High School in 1951 and then entered the United States Air Force, where he served four years as an electrician, gunner, and flight engineer. He was a crew member of the B-36 Peacemaker for the Strategic Air Command.
Mr. Kuster enjoyed skiing with his friends in Utah.
Ernie worked at Visqueen Corporation as a maintenance foreman, then returned to the family farm in 1962 after his brother, John, joined the United States Army. Mr. Kuster served on various agricultural boards and committees. The farm was host to the Dairy Open House as well as the County Farmers Businessman’s Association. In 1997, the farm was sold for what is today, the Heron Glen Golf Course.
Mr. Kuster was predeceased by his brother, Albert. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Katie Lachenmayr Kuster; his sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Pamela Kuster of Worton, MD, and Ernest and Elesa Kuster of Fletcher, NC; his brother, John Kuster of Ringoes, NJ; his grandchildren: Genna, Scott, and Ethan; his step-grandchildren: Mary and Stephen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 10 AM to Noon in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
