FAILING TO WEAR A SEATBELT LEADS TO HEROIN AND CRACK

@ approximately 11:28 AM – Police arrested Daniel G. Godfrey, age 35 of Washington, NJ and Erich R. Nething, age 29 of Hackettstown, NJ and charged each with narcotics offenses following a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 31. Godfrey was initially stopped for failure to wear a seatbelt. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of hypodermic syringes. Godfrey was found to have an active traffic warrant for his arrest issued out of Washington Township Municipal Court ($500.00 bail). Washington Township elected to release Godfrey on his own recognizance with a new court date. Godfrey was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear seatbelt and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Nething was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine), possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released after processing.
