FALL GOLF REVIEW – PART ONE STAYING AT MOUNT AIRY – WONDERFUL ACCOMODATIONS

When planning your fall golf getaway you certainly want to consider Mount Airy, not just for the fabulous golf course which we will be examining in a different story, but also for the accommodations which are more than excellent.

.  Let’s take an inside look.

Staff –  Right from the first hello the service was impeccable, top notch and charming. The woman who checked me in, seen here in the picture, was incredibly nice. She went far beyond the regular protocol to schedule a shuttle pick up to take me to the golf course, to set a reservation at Bistecca  – article forthcoming  – to set a massage appointment for me the next morning and to provide a tour of the entire property. She also gave me a grand description of how to get around, points of interest that I might like to see and a tip on how to get the players card for the casino.  The young man who took my bag to the room was equally engaging and thankfully gave me a few tips on the harder holes on the golf course which came in handy a scant hour and a half later.  Throughout the entire stay everyone I encountered could not have been more pleasant in setting a positive atmosphere.

Location Location Location.  –  From anywhere in the Hunterdon Somerset Morris area Mt Airy is simple to  get to. From the center of Clinton it took 58 Minutes. All you do is jump on 31 north, take the ride up along the Delaware, which is beautiful in its own right, have the pleasure of passing through the always scenic Water Gap, which, if you do in the early morning you can get some great visuals of the fog lifting off the river, simply breathtaking. You  exit route 80 after only a few moments in Pennsylvania and from there it’s a simply left off the exit and you head north 12 miles through some rolling hills.  The hotel has free valet parking so pull up right in front and let the bell hop grab your things. It couldn’t be easier

The room – The number one thing most of us who travel look for immediately is cleanliness, it may seem simple but some of the spots in Myrtle Beach last fall rose more than a few eyebrows with their suspect conditions. The room at Mt Airy was immaculate, supremely clean, smelled fresh and was made up like a multi star. The room had a king bed, desk with internet connection so that you could work, a nice size TV, not a mini one like many places, refrigerator with the mini bar in it, coffee maker, iron with board in case you wanted to get the creases out, extra comforter for the bed and an oversized bathroom and shower.  And this might seem like a strange factoid but a nice aspect of the bathroom was it had a separate room for the toilet that separated it from the shower so if someone wanted to clean up you could also go to the bathroom, seems insignificant to many until you run into a situation where you need it. The shower had great water pressure and the signature shampoos and soaps were a nice touch. Towels were fresh and crisp and there were plenty of hangers for dress wear in the closet. A very nice view below from the room’s window is like many throughout the hotel.

Overall, whether you are traveling with a spouse, companion, business partners or your golf buddies, you would be hard pressed to find a nicer more convenient place to stay in the Poconos and we give this a very high rating.  You will not be disappointed.

Tomorrow – to the first hole.

A very comfortable bed made for a nice nights sleep.

The fountain as you enter the front door.

A nice waiting area outside the casino should you be waiting for friends.

Check in desk on your right as you enter.

There are a multitude of things going on.

They will set you up with a players card, first timers get $10 on the house for signing up.

In case you need that extra little jolt in the morning.
