Frank Apgar, age 101, of Annandale, NJ passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at home.
He was born on November 9, 1915 in Alpha, NJ. He resided in Annandale, NJ in the same house since August 1950, having moved from Lebanon.
He was the son of the late Ervin and Bessie Apgar.
His wife, Marjorie Dilts Apgar, passed away on October 15, 1979.
Frank was a heavy machine operator. He worked for Forsythe Construction for 18 years and then with his son, Lawrence, operating Frank F. Apgar & Son in Annandale, NJ for many years until his retirement in 1989.
Frank was a member and Past Chief of Annandale Hose Company.
He loved telling stories about his younger years, including stories about when he lived on Haynes Farm from 1918 to 1936. As a teenager, he worked at the Haynes Produce Stand, what is now Ercolano’s.
Survivors include 1 brother; Charles Apgar. 2 sons; David Apgar and his wife Catherine of Hampton, NJ and Robert Apgar of Annandale, NJ. 1 daughter-in-law; Marlene Apgar of Annandale, NJ. 5 grandchildren; Susan Bonczak and her husband John, Carol Franc and her husband Matthew, Jeffrey Apgar and his wife Melanie, Stacey Duncan and her husband Mark and Brian Apgar and his wife Mandy. 7 great-grandchildren; Shane, Christopher, Connor, Madison, Owen, Alexandra and Jack.
Predeceased, in addition to his wife, by 2 brothers; Earl Apgar who passed away at age 12 and Elmer Apgar who passed away in 1977. His oldest son, Lawrence, passed away on January 23, 2009.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm, with Firemen’s Services at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Interment at Union Cemetery in Lebanon, NJ.
