George J. Van Why, Jr., age 63 years, of Raritan Township NJ, died Tuesday September 6, 2016 in the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township surrounded by his loving family.
George was born in Raritan Township July 29, 1953, son of the late George J. Van Why, Sr. and June Clark Van Why; George had resided in the Flemington area all of his life.
A 1972 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, George was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928; a member of the Flemington Moose Lodge; a member of the Flemington American Legion Post 159, and was a Trustee of the Union Cemetery Association, Wertsville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Albert Van Why in 2000. Surviving are his wife, Debra Harris Van Why, two daughters and a son-in-law, Katie Van Why of Flemington NJ, and Tara and Travis Lohse of Cedarburg WI, a grandchild, Avery Lohse, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Maj of Middlesex NJ, and June and Bergen Manners of Ringoes.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Wertsville NJ. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
