Obituary for Gerald Albanese

Gerald Albanese, age 75 years, of Neshanic Station NJ, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at home with his family by his side.

Born February 4, 1941, in Agrigento, Sicily, Italy, Jerry was the son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Sanfilippo) Albanese. He resided in Italy until 1954 when his family came to the United States. Jerry, his father and his brothers owned and operated J. Albanese Construction Co. in Jersey City, NJ. Jerry retired in 2010.

Jerry has been married to his wife, Michaelene (nee Skowronski), for 36 years and together, they shared a love of dogs and horses, where many of their dogs won numerous field competitions. He was a member of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America, the National German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America, the Eastern German Shorthaired Pointer Club, Vizsla Club of Northern New Jersey, the English Setter Club of America, a Vice President of the NGSPA Pheasant Association, a member of the Olde Barn Gun Club, as well as an avid AKC & National NGSPA Field Trial Competitor and Judge.

Predeceased by his parents, Jerry had many nieces and nephews who loved him to the moon and back. He is pre-deceased by Thomas and survived by his wife, Michaelene, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Salvatore and Lorraine Albanese of Bayonne NJ, and Alphonse and Madeline Albanese of Lodi NJ, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Concetta and Salvatore Chianetta of Little Ferry NJ, and Santina & Alaa Eldin of Englewood Cliffs NJ, his nieces and nephews, Nina, Philip, Joseph, Anthony, Sherri, and Ali, as well as several grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822.

Memorial donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
