Ringoes, NJ– Gloria Mae (Gow) Van Alstyne, 85, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at home with loving family by her side. Born in Staten Island, NY, daughter of the late John and Mae (Burbank) Gow, she resided in Tewksbury, NJ before settling in Ringoes in 1969.
Gloria was an artist in many ways; she loved painting china plates, ceramics, making clothes, making Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs, knitting, and reupholstering furniture. She was a woman of many, many talents; least of which she was a fantastic cook. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by a grandson, Donald Van Alstyne, III and maternal grandparents who raised her, Ben and Mabel Burbank.
Gloria is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-nine years, Donald Van Alstyne, Sr., with whom she wed on July 30, 1947; three loving children, Donald Van Alstyne, Jr. and his wife Joann of Liverpool, PA, Susan Rosser of Marathon, FL, and Valerie and her husband Steven Cerny of Sandyston, NJ; dear sister, Carol Jones; six cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Klein, Lauren Van Alstyne, Avery Rosser, Darlene Corbin, Nathaniel Rosser, and Mecca Cerny; and five precious great grandchildren, Alaina, Carlos, William, Cameron, and Makenzie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, August 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, August 12 from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 12 beginning 11:00 a.m. with a Methodist pastor officiating. Committal words and disposition will follow at Stillwater Cemetery in Stillwater, NJ.
