Gloria Walker, a long-time resident of the Whitehouse Station, died Thursday the 9th of June in her home at the age of 88. In her final days she was surrounded by the love and support of her family and close friends.
Gloria was born in 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to Malva Pearl Harris and Jerry Golder Harris. She was the youngest of 5 children and shared countless fond memories with older siblings Harold, Herbert, Goldie, and Howard. She moved to New Jersey with her family where she met her husband, Robert Walker. Together, they owned and operated Robert Walker Plumbing & Heating before turning the business over to their daughter, Kathy Walker Lucas and her husband, John Lucas.
Gloria loved gardening, history, birds, and most of all, her family. She was known for her strong will and her strong faith. All the way up until her passing, she could be found outside her home tending to her flowers. She cherished an annual family reunion she organized and loved receiving updates from all of her relatives, near and far.
Gloria is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Walker, and her son, Robert Walker III. She is also predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Walker Penyak; and Kathy Walker Lucas; Kathy’s husband, John, and her grandchildren, Shauna Metz Aherne and her husband Evan; Katelyn Lucas Borovsky and her husband Tal; and John Lucas and his wife Lani; and her great-granddaughter, Katiann Lucas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Jaclyn Coppola’s Treatment Fund;
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 18th, 2016 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by funeral service at 12:00PM. All will be held at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main St. Lebanon, NJ. An internment for immediate family will follow.
