The Goddard School located in Clinton along with 9 other Goddard Schools in the Skyland region partnered with Bridge of Books Foundation to collect over 12,000 new and gently used books for children in need and exceeded their original goal of 10,000 total books.
As part of the collection, classrooms featured various children’s books for different activities such as caterpillar necklaces and lady bug stamps for books including The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
“Reading is a crucial part of building a strong foundation for the future academic success of every child, and we are fortunate enough to be able to provide a wide variety of children’s books to inspire and nurture a love of reading in children,” says Kathy Zabicki, on-site owner of The Goddard School located in Clinton. “However, we also know that there are many children who simply do not have access to books, and our goal with the book drive is to change that.”
The book drive is part of the schools’ initiative to promote literacy and teach the children the importance of giving back to the community.
