HAMPTON BORO MAN ARRESTED FOR 1ST DEGREE AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and New Jersey State Police Washington Station Commander Lt. Daniel Dalrymple announced that a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the New Jersey State Police Washington Barracks has led to the arrest of one individual on sexual assault charges.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On January 11, 2018, Michael F. Latronica, age 41, of Hampton Boro, NJ, was arrested and charged with one count of 1st degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, two counts of 2nd degree Sexual Assault, and two counts of 2nd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.”

An investigation by detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the New Jersey State Police Washington Barracks revealed the crimes took place in 2009 and involved children under the age of 13. Mr. Latronica is being held in the Somerset County Jail pending his first court appearance.

Prosecutor Kearns added, “Children are life’s most precious gift, parents and guardians must remain vigilant at all times. Continual communication with children under your care is imperative to keeping them safe and children should be taught about appropriate boundaries. Crimes involving children are a heinous offense. If found guilty the defendant can be sentenced up to twenty years in prison for the 1st degree charges.”

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is requested to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at 908-788-1129.
