Harold L. Silverthorn
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – Harold L. Silverthorn, 86, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home.
Born May 26, 1928, Harold was a lifelong resident of Holland Township. He worked at Opdyke Lumber in Frenchtown, NJ for 33 years, then owned and operated Alfalfa Hill Saw Mill until he passed away. Harold also worked for Wel-Bilt Homes at one time. He enjoyed motorcycling, country music, collecting antiques and tractors. Harold was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford, NJ.
Son of the late Arthur and Laura (Burd) Silverthorn, Harold is survived by his two sons Kenneth Silverthorn and his wife Darlene of Nazareth, PA and Donald Silverthorn and his wife Rose of Ottsville, PA, his daughter Sandra Traxinger and her husband Steven of Jackson Township, NJ, his brother David H. Silverthorn of Maine, and his three grandchildren Joe, Alex, and Krista. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Kathryn L. Silverthorn in 2014, and his two brothers Ira and Walt Silverthorn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ with Pastor Dale Sattizahn officiating. Interment will follow at the Milford Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
