Helen Ruth Cooley
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – Helen Ruth Cooley, 97, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at her home.
Born February 18, 1919 in Sergeantsville, NJ, Helen lived in Frenchtown, NJ for many years before moving to Holland Township 20 years ago. She graduated from Frenchtown High School. Helen had a career in banking working for Frenchtown National Bank and Wells Fargo as an executive. She enjoyed golfing and had gotten 3 holes in one. Helen was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed embroidery and quilts. She also enjoyed cooking. Most of all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hobart Chapter #63 where she had served as grand matron.
Daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Veneble) Crum, Helen is survived by her son David H. Cooley and his wife Joan of Bethlehem Township, PA, her grandchildren Michal Cooley and his wife Karen and Thomas Cooley, and her three great-grandchildren Michaela, Ava, and Logan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard Alton Cooley, her two brothers Harold Crum and Frank Crum, and her sister Beatrice Nykamp.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ with Rev. William “Tex” Culton officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Alexandria Township, NJ. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
