Helen S. LaRue, age 88 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Foothill Acres, Hillsborough, NJ.
Born in Patchogue, NY, January 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Schumacher Stockholm. She had resided in Hunterdon County for the past 59 years.
Mrs. LaRue retired as the County Treasurer of Hunterdon County after 35 years of service.
Helen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Hunterdon County and Raritan Township Republican Clubs, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was formerly Treasurer of the Hunterdon County Historical Society; was former Chair of the Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority; former Director of Housing and Urban Development; and Secretary/Treasurer of the Prospect Hill Cemetery Association.
Her husband, Jack LaRue, died in 1998. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara LaRue of Flemington, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joe Costa of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother, Eugene Stockholm, of Lagrangeville, NY; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10 AM in Prospect Hill Cemetery, 69 Capner Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
