Herbert James ‘Jim’ Monk, age 68, of Milford, NJ passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
Jim was born on March 21, 1948 in West Pittston, PA. He had resided in Milford, NJ for the past 6 years and prior to that lived in Bethlehem Twp., NJ for many years.
He was the son of the late Herbert J. and Hilda M. Strotz Monk.
He was the husband of Linda M. Jacobus Monk, celebrating being together for 45 years.
Jim was a graduate of North Hunterdon High School and later earned his oil burner technician certificate. He was a technician for Van Doren Oil Co. for 36 years until his retirement in 1998.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He also was an animal lover.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include 2 sons; Eric J. Monk and his wife Tasha of Phillipsburg, NJ and Shawn D. Monk and his wife Colleen of Bloomsbury, NJ. 3 daughters; Jamie A. Botzan and her husband Chris of Pohatcong Twp., NJ, Jessica A. Madron and her husband Marc of Sisters, OR and Crystal L. Mayberry and her husband Richard of Green Lane, PA. 10 grandchildren; Kayla Monk and her fiancé Cliff Virgile, Brett Monk and his fiancée Ashlee Modica, Nicholas Monk, Kyrsten Monk, Brayden Monk, Tristen Madron, Holly Madron, London Madron, Amelia Mayberry and Adam Mayberry. 1 great-granddaughter; Ava Monk-Virgile and 1 step-great-granddaughter; Alayna Modica. 1 sister; Barbara Alpaugh and her husband Donald of Wattsontown, PA and 1 brother; Larry Monk of Spokane, WA. Several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by 1 sister; Shirley Drake.
Calling hours will be Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1pm to 4pm with funeral service at 4pm. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be private.
