HEROIN DEALER BUSTED IN HUNTERDON WITH 750 BAGS

On Wednesday, January 20, at approximately 12:55 pm, an officer stopped a 2001 GMC van operated by Tony Atwood, age 44, of Johnstown, PA on Interstate 78 West for equipment violations. During the stop, the officer learned that Mr. Atwood had a suspended New Jersey driver’s license and approximately $1,300 in warrants for his arrest. The officer also observed a prescription pill container with various types of medication in it. A search produced approximately seven hundred and fifty (750) bags of heroin inside of the vehicle. Mr. Atwood was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Prescription Medication Not In Proper Container, Operating a Motor Vehicle While In Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Driving While Suspended, Maintenance of Lamps, and Tinted Windows. Mr. Atwood was then transported to the Hunterdon County Jail after failing to post the $40,000 bail.
